I had never read The Magicians Nephew before taking this class; I had always avoided reading this one because I thought it would not be as entertaining as the other stories since he wrote it towards the end of the series even though it chronologically began the series. Since, I had never read this part of the series before, I never knew where Jadis the White Queen, came from before entering into Narnia. Also, I had no idea how the land of Narnia had been created and how the Queen came to enter into the world of Narnia. The Biblical allegories seem so apparent to me, yet Lewis himself denies that the Chronicles of Narnia were allegory. The creation of Narnia was probably the most beautiful and amazing things to read, how Aslan sang everything into existence. Beginning first as an empty dark void, but blossoming into a beautiful land filled with plants and trees and animals. Similar to the story of sin entering the World, evil also enter into Narnia. Also, man is who brings evil into the world of Narnia, which is paralleled in the Bible story where man falls into sin. I feel like I missed out on a big part of the story, since I waited so long to read The Magicians Nephew. This book in the series explains so much of the following stories in the series, where everything originated from and how things came to be, before knowing any of this information I just assumed that’s the way it was and was alright in my ignorance. However, now that I have learned all these things, confusions I once had are no longer present and I understand them a great deal more.
