Eric Fesmire General Topic #4

I grew up near mountains. I think mountains are good for a person's soul. Standing and looking up at a mountain means I am dwarfed by its presence. It means that there is something so much bigger than me that I literally cannot see the whole thing. The fact that mountains are natural is important too, lest the same thing happen when looking at a large building. The colors change on the mountains and living things grow making the whole behemoth of a thing seem alive. Hiking mountains is a challenge, but one I grew up with and enjoy. I say that I enjoy about as much as anyone can enjoy hiking. I think stuff like hiking is a lot like writing in that people who say they enjoy really only enjoy certain parts of it. I don't think anyone really likes every part of the writing process. I really don't think anyone really likes every part of the hiking process either. There is annoyances, pain, and struggle mixed in with the joy of each of these activities. That is what makes it so much better  I think though. Lewis would like that thought I think.
