Molly Ransone (#6) Till We have Faces

Till We Have Faces
(#6)

Till We Have Faces was my favorite book of the semester. I have taken many Classical Studies classes, so I really enjoyed this book and its use of mythology. I loved that Lewis retold an ancient myth into a modern story. This book is so different from anything I have ever read. I could not put it down after the first couple chapters.  After finishing the book I had one burning question that I wanted to ask Lewis. Is Orual Ungit? At the end Lewis slipped in the idea that Orual may actually have been the very god that she feared in the beginning. At the end of the book Orual had a dream that she was the real Ungit. When she woke up she really believed that she was the real Ungit and she tried to drown herself. This question has been driving me crazy! I think Lewis did this on purpose so that you would reflect on this myth after finishing the story. The fact that this question still bothers me demonstrates the power that a really good myth can have on us.
