Till We Have Faces
I think it is very interesting that Lewis writes from the perspective of a woman in this book. In class we talked about his relationship with his wife, Joy, and I think this influenced him to write from a female perspective. I also think it is really cool that he chose to retell the myth of Cupid and Psyche. This myth is very sad, because Psyche seems to possess everything she could ever desire, and then with one look she has it all taken away. I have always wondered why Lewis chose this myth, and why it was so significant to him. The myth is a very popular tale in Greek mythology, but the way Lewis write the characters makes it feel so real. He really fills it with human emotion. During the course of the book I felt so bad for Orual. I feel so awful that people are so hateful towards her just because she is "ugly". Orual is the only character I cannot clear see in my head, because I have no idea as to what she could possibly look like.
