Essay On Forgiveness by C.S. Lewis- 1960

Lewis writes about the topic of forgiveness in this essay, and discusses its importance.  He notes that if you do not forgive, God will not forgive you.  This concept can be seen in many of Lewis' works.  The most prominent example that comes to mind is Aslan forgiving Edmund in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.  Lewis stresses that we must remember the part of our sin that is unforgivable and we must acknowledge it, for God knows all of our excuses.  Also, Lewis believes that we should truly believe in the power of God's forgiveness, because our lame excuses come from our inability to believe in it truly.  By forgiving others and recognizing their sin, we truly let go of the sin and excuse it.
