Jackie Lentz: Outside Reading-5

Journal #6

I like that Lewis explains his belief through Christ and not God. Christ was God’s human form and therefore people were able to see him, but to really see the glory of Christ would be like looking directly into the sun; the more you stared the less you could actually see. I think the same goes for Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia. There is so much that we are unable to know about Aslan; where he comes from and why he does the things that he does; but we know that he loves all that he comes in contact with and all those he knows of but will never see. The myth of Aslan is something that endured throughout all seven books and yet only a select few were able to experience the presence of Aslan. His influence was what endured and I think that is similar to what Lewis believes about Christ. My understanding comes from Lewis’ myth.
