Jackie Lentz: Narnia-1

Journal #7

I think that Susan leaving behind Narnia makes the story seem more real. I think people forget that even though they are stories not everyone gets their happy ending. In Christianity, the passage in the Bible mentions that the road to Heaven is narrow, meaning not everyone will get there. Susan turned her back on everything she had learned for the beauty that existed in her life in England, instead of appreciating the wonder that existed in Narnia. I would think that it would be less likely for someone to have seen the greatness of Heaven and then to make the choice to not return; to instead soak up the temporary excitement of the world. So, perhaps it is fitting that only Susan is left behind, but still she needed to be left. It makes the myth that Lewis creates in his stories all the more relatable. I find myself distracted by the temporary highs of everyday life and forget that I believe there is glory beyond this life. I forget that I am meant to pass up these opportunities of stupidity in order to enjoy the wonder of Heaven.
